Grant County Police Officer Arrested for Theft

A Grant County Sheriff's Deputy has been arrested on six (6) Felony counts of Theft. Scott Reed, 38, of Muncie, Indiana turned himself in, on Wednesday, July 17, 2011, at the Grant County Jail. He posted a bond and has been released. Mr. Reed has been placed on administrative leave and has been removed from his law enforcement duties.

Officer Reed allegedly transferred over $6800 dollars from Diamond Properties, LLC (a business he co-owned) to his personal account. The Indiana State Police investigated the matter from January 2010 to September 2010. He is also alleged to have used a company credit card to purchase items for personal use.

Theft is a Class D Felony and carries a penalty of Six Months to Three Years in jail, along with a fine not to exceed Ten Thousand Dollars ($10,000).

If he hasn't already done so, Officer Reed should immediately consult with a qualified criminal defense attorney in order to protect his rights.
